1 John 5: 20 “20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.” NLT
Summer is quickly passing by and fall will soon be upon us. As we are now navigating life as a new church within the Global Methodist Church, we are becoming more aware of our roots and are beginning to be more and more Methodist with every passing day. One of the new ways in which we are expressing our Methodism these day is our belief in Scriptural holiness. This means that we are taking the Scriptures at their word and we are beginning to live into those Scriptures and practice what they are asking us to practice. For the month of September we are going to lean into “the hard truths” that are found within the Scriptures. We know that there were many times in which Jesus was not a push over, nor was He accepting of everyone’s behavior. He was loving and welcoming, but He called those who follow Him into a life that does not look like it did before they met. When God begins to become more and more important to us, and we make that relationship a priority in our lives, we will begin to see the truth found within the Scriptures and how we can apply it to our lives. This month we will dive into God’s promises to us as those who believe in Jesus and choose to follow Him. We will be encouraged by the Apostle Paul and the way in which he calls out the people of the church, the body of Christ, to be that body of Christ to people who are lost and need God. We will even take a look back at the Old Testament and see how the New Testament proclaims God’s glory through the new covenant made possible through Jesus. I hope that you are ready to hear some uncomfortable, yet necessary truths that are found within the Scriptures. Maybe the Holy Spirit is calling you to be someone new. Maybe God can make His presence in the world known through you. Hopefully you are ready for it! - Pastor Mike
